‘This is truly devastating’: RI Haitian organization president reacts to earthquake

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- As disaster strikes in Haiti, the Rhode Island Haitian community is trying to wrap their heads around Saturday’s devastating earthquake while trying to get in touch with loved ones.

Bernard Georges, President of New Bridge for Haitian Success, has family in Haiti. He tells ABC6 he’s still trying to get in touch with some of his loved ones.

“This is truly devastating,” said Georges. “Right now, we are asking people to help us. We need you, we need medical supplies.”

Georges has an uncle, brother, and sister who are living in the country.  He said they sent him videos of them running to safety after feeling the quake tear through their home.
